India and Pakistan will take on each other on a cricket field yet again after having played thrice last month in the Men's Asia Cup. The arch-rivals will play faceoff in the Women's Asia Cup 2025 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday at 3 pm IST.
Both India and Pakistan will be looking to put in their best performance.
India got off to a great start in the World Cup with a thumping 59-run win over Pakistan and are placed fourth on the points table. The team will be hoping to carry forward the momentum and maintain their unbeaten streak o 11-0 against Pakistan.
In the opener, India chose to bat first and scored 269/8 in 47 overs as rain break forced in reduced play. Major contributions with the bat came from Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, and Amanjot Kaur. Sri Lanka’s Inoka Ranaweera stood out with a four-wicket haul. India’s disciplined bowling performance helped restrict Sri Lanka to 211 runs.
On the other hand, Pakistan suffered a defeat to Bangladesh and are placed sixth. Furthermore, taking on the in-form Indian team and the burden of previous records could prove to be a daunting task for the side who have never won against the arch-rival.
Their batting lineup collapsed, and could score just 129 runs. Bangladesh’s victory was largely propelled by Rubya Haider’s unbeaten half-century, securing a comfortable win.
