Popular Bihar folk singer Maithili Thakur has expressed her interest in contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections from her home constituency.
Speaking to reporters, she said, “I would like to contest from my home constituency... my village if given poll ticket. I have a special connect from that place.”
Thakur, 25, even said that she has had a meeting with BJP leaders Nityanand Rai and Vinod Tawde with a focus on Bihar's future and the curresnt scenario in the state. However, she clarified that there has been no official announcement yet.
Thakur, known for her renditions of Maithili folk songs and bhajans, is reportedly in talks with local political parties as the state gears up for the assembly elections.
Bihar Assembly Elections 2025
The Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Monday had announced that the Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases, with polling scheduled for November 6 and November 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14. The entire election process will be concluded by November 16.
“Bihar elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. Counting of votes will be done on November 14,” Kumar said at a press conference. He added that it is mandatory to complete counting of postal ballots before the last two rounds of counting of votes.
The first phase will see voting in 121 assembly constituencies, while the second phase will cover 122 constituencies. Kumar described the elections as the “mother of all elections.”

Bihar has a total of 243 constituencies, including two reserved for Scheduled Tribes and 38 for Scheduled Castes.
