In Hinduism, Pitru Paksha is considered very important. In these 16 days between the full moon of the Bhadrapad month and the new moon of the Ashwin month, Shradh, Tarpan, etc., are performed for the peace of the souls of ancestors. This is the time to show respect to ancestors. Brahmins are fed in Shradh. Without the Brahmin feast, the full fruit of Shradh is not achieved.

It is believed that the food given to a Brahmin during Shradh reaches the ancestors directly. Along with this, it is very important to feed cows, dogs, and crows as well. According to Acharya Anand Bhardwaj of Ujjain, some rules have been told from inviting a Brahmin to your house during Shradh to sending him off after feeding him. Which is necessary to follow.
Definitely follow these rules
- If you are going to feed a Brahmin in Pitru Paksha, then you should always invite a qualified Brahmin who follows religion and karma for food.
– Invite any Brahmin for food with respect and make it clear to him that you are inviting him for the feast for Shraddha. Also, make it clear that he is not going to anyone else's place except yours for the Shraddha meal.
- To feed the Brahmin in Shraddha, prepare the same food that your ancestors or the deceased person related to your house used to like. It is believed that when you prepare food according to the liking of your ancestors and feed the Brahmin, their souls are satisfied.
- In Pitru Paksha, Shraddha is always performed for the ancestors in the afternoon, so invite the Brahmin for food in the afternoon only. Food for Brahmins should be prepared with purity, and garlic and onion should not be used in it, even by mistake.
- According to religious belief, the south is considered to be the direction of ancestors. It is believed that during Pitru Paksha, ancestors come to earth from this direction, so food should always be served to Brahmins facing south.
- During Pitru Paksha, when you invite a Brahmin and feed him for your ancestors, always take care to serve him food in bronze, brass, silver or a leaf plate. Do not make the mistake of feeding a Brahmin in an iron or steel plate.

- After feeding a Brahmin with respect during Pitru Paksha, while leaving, give him some dakshina according to your capacity and take his blessings. Apologize for any mistake or shortcoming done knowingly or unknowingly. Only after feeding a Brahmin during Pitru Paksha, the family members should take food as prasad.
