The beginning of November 2025 has brought a small but welcome relief for small businesses and shopkeepers, as the price of commercial LPG cylinders has been reduced. However, domestic cooking gas prices remain unchanged across the country.
According to the latest update from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the price of commercial LPG cylinders — commonly used by hotels, restaurants, and shops — has been cut by ₹4.5 to ₹6.5 per cylinder across major cities. Meanwhile, household LPG cylinders have seen no price revision since April 2025.
Small Relief for Traders and BusinessesFrom Delhi to Patna, the blue-colored commercial LPG cylinder is now ₹5 cheaper compared to last month. This reduction, though minor, brings a bit of financial comfort to small business owners who rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.
Here’s the new commercial LPG price list for November 2025 in major cities:
-
Delhi: ₹1,590.50 per cylinder (down ₹5)
-
Mumbai: ₹1,542 per cylinder (down ₹5)
-
Kolkata: ₹1,694 per cylinder (down ₹6.5)
-
Chennai: ₹1,750 per cylinder (down ₹4.5)
The slight cut in prices reflects the ongoing adjustments made by oil marketing companies in response to international crude market trends.
Global Factors Behind the Price ShiftThe fluctuations in LPG prices are deeply connected to international energy market movements. Following U.S. and European Union sanctions on Russian oil and gas companies, India’s reliance on energy imports from the Middle East and the U.S. has grown substantially.
This geopolitical shift has influenced both supply dynamics and pricing strategies of Indian oil companies. As global prices fluctuate due to supply chain disruptions and changes in demand, domestic LPG prices — both commercial and household — also experience periodic revisions.
However, this month’s marginal price cut suggests a temporary stabilization in international energy prices, providing short-term respite for commercial users.
No Change in Household LPG PricesWhile businesses benefit from a small reduction, household consumers continue to pay the same rates for domestic LPG cylinders. The last price revision for domestic gas took place on April 8, 2025, when prices were increased by ₹50 per cylinder. Since then, prices have remained stable.
As of November 2025, the domestic LPG prices in India’s metro cities are as follows:
-
Delhi: ₹853 per cylinder
-
Kolkata: ₹879 per cylinder
-
Mumbai: ₹852.50 per cylinder
-
Chennai: ₹868.50 per cylinder
Experts suggest that the government and oil companies are aiming to maintain price stability for household consumers, especially amid inflationary pressures and upcoming festival season demands. On the other hand, commercial LPG prices are more frequently adjusted based on global crude rates, as they are not subsidized by the government.
The latest revision may appear minor, but it reflects broader economic efforts to keep energy prices balanced amid uncertain global conditions. For now, consumers can take solace in the fact that while global markets remain volatile, domestic LPG rates — particularly for households — have remained steady for several months.
