Bhubaneswar: As cold wave continued to sweep Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday that the minimum temperature is likely to rise after four days in the state.
In a bulletin, the weather agency said no large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) is expected during the next four days in the state.
Thereafter, minimum temperature is likely to rise by three to four degree Celsius over most parts of the state, it said.
In state capital Bhubaneswar, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30 degree and 15 degree Celsius respectively.
The drop in the mercury levels recorded in the last few days is being attributed to dry weather and strong flow of north-westerly winds towards Odisha.
Meanwhile, the mercury dropped to 8.5°C and 8.7°C in the hill stations of Daringbadi and G Udayagiri respectively in Kandhamal district in the last 24 hours.
As per the weather agency, the minimum night temperature hovered around 10°C in Phulbani, Rourkela and Jharsuguda. Phulbani, also in Kandhamal, recorded 10°C, followed by Rourkela (10.5°C) and Jharsuguda (10.6°C).
Dense fog engulfed Rourkela, where the night temperature has dropped by 5.7°C in the last 6 days, from 16.2°C on November 7 to 10.5°C on November 12. Moderate fog also occurred in Bhawanipatna.
