Duchess Sophie stuns in £2190 silk dress during Japan visit

The Duchess of Edinburgh looked stylish in a printed ensemble by a British designer as she attended a string of engagements on the second day of her Japan trip. Sophie and her husband, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, are currently undertaking a four-day official tour of the country, and arrived on September 18.

The royal stunned in a printed silk frock by the designer Suzannah London and the gown originally retailed for £2190 and is called the Dolce Vita Silk Twill Shirt Dress. The brand describes the 'Dolce Vita' dress as "a piece of wearable art" with "an easy silhouette made from beautiful Italian printed silk". The dress has three-quarter length cuffed sleeves, pockets, silk-covered buttons and a self-tie belt and is elegant-looking for all occasions. Sophie accessorised the piece with a clutch bag in a coordinating colour of cream, and heeled pumps.

During the day, Sophie visited the Nezu Museum, in Minato City, Tokyo, where she toured the gardens, studied an exhibit, and met the head of museum, Koichi Nezu and his wife Mihoko.

The museum, which was founded to conserve and exhibit the pre-modern Japanese and East Asian art collected by Japanese businessman, politician, and philanthropist Nezu Kaichiro, houses some 7,600 works, including seven Japanese National Treasures.

The engagements came a day after Sophie, accompanied by her husband Prince Edward, watched a sumo match at Ryogoku Kokugikan National Sumo Arena in Tokyo.

The tournament is one of six held in Japan each year in January, May, and September, and it lasts for over two weeks. Before the event, Sophie and Edward met and chatted with wrestler Asanoyama Hiroki and posed for photos.

At the start of their four day visit, the Duke and Duchess of Edinbugh also met with Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince and Crown Princess Akishino.

The couple planted an oak sapling in the garden, symbolising the continuing close relationship between the Royal Family and the Imperial Family.

The sapling was taken from an English oak tree planted on the same grounds by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 1975.

Sophie and Edward arrived in Japan on September 18, and their trip will run until September 22.
