All eyes were on Dame Helen Mirren at the UK premiere of The Thursday Murder Club, which was held in London's Leicester Square just hours before the Richard Osman adaptation dropped on streaming giant Netflix. The 80-year-old award-winning actress donned an eye-catching blue Alice + Olivia Maxine gown, which was adorned with floral embellishments and styled with a cropped white jacket. To complete the contemporary look, Helen opted for Mikimoto jewels, along with Sole Bliss shoes.
It's always intriguing to know how members of Hollywood royalty will be in person, and Helen showed her true colours as soon as she stepped onto the red carpet that sunny afternoon before she joined her fellow cast members, fans, and the press inside the cinema to watch the film adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club.
Despite being an Oscar winner and having countless award nominations under her belt from a career spanning six decades, Helen seemed extremely down-to-earth and full of enthusiasm for the Netflix film she was promoting alongside Pierce Brosnan, Celia Imrie, and Ben Kingsley.
She radiated a joyful energy as she accepted interviews from the press, signed autographs for fans of the books, and spoke to host Alex Zayn about starring in the highly anticipated film.
You'd think after attending more premieres than birthdays, you may lose your excitement about new movies coming out - but Helen's spirits appeared high and genuine, and nobody could take their eyes off her when Alex was interviewing her.
Not only did she look incredible in her bejewelled ballgown, but she was also razor sharp and full of mischief as she teased Alex about the film and her character.
Helen plays Elizabeth Best in The Thursday Murder Club. She is a no-nonsense retired spy who has created a cold-case crime-solving group in her retirement home.
In the film, she recruits a new resident named Joyce, who used to work as a nurse and isn't afraid to examine gory crime scene photos to help the rest of the club with their investigations.
Helen and Celia both gave stellar performances in the adaptation. Thanks to their intriguing backstories and sprinkles of dry humour, they were the highlights of the film.
It's easy to see why Helen is such a beloved actress whose career has outlived many other stars who are perhaps not as charming, eloquent, and talented as she. It's a relief that she's such a delight in the flesh.
The Thursday Murder Club is now available to watch on Netflix.
