US President Donald Trump drew laughs during a photo op in Sharm el-Sheikh when he pointed at a UAE official and said, "A lot of cash. Unlimited cash." The humorous remark quickly went viral online.
Trump arrived in Egypt on Monday to attend a summit on Gaza’s future, following a historic hostage and prisoner exchange. Hamas released 20 hostages to Israel, while Israel freed nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. Trump hailed the deal as “the historic dawn of a new Middle East.”
Speaking to Israeli lawmakers, he said the exchange marked “the end of the war,” though many questions remain about the future of Gaza, including whether Hamas will disarm, if the ceasefire will hold, who will pay for reconstruction, and who will govern the territory.
At the summit, Trump met Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for the first time since 2017, greeting him warmly, saying, "It's good to have you." The summit also included leaders from Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, who signed a joint document with the United States, although Israel and Hamas were not represented.
Trump spoke alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, who said, “From the city of Sharm el-Sheikh, the will of the people meets the resolve of world leaders to end the war in Gaza. They all carry a single message to mankind: Enough war. Welcome to peace.”
